Spartan Race West Point-New York Sprint Weekend – Bear Mountain, NY

Spartan’s military roots run deep. This August, we salute our history with an unforgettable Spartan event at West Point USMA, a key cornerstone of American military history. Here, grit is the rule, not the exception. So we kindly ask that you either leave your fears at home or face them on the course.

Top reasons to take on this course:

1. Established in 1801 by President Thomas Jefferson, West Point Academy is alma mater to some of the greatest American military and exploration heroes in history: President Grant and President Eisenhower, Generals Patton, MacArthur and Custer and even Astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Visit the central campus for scores of monuments, historic sites and awe-inspiring, Norman-style buildings.

2. Sail across the Hudson River to visit historic Constitution Island, an important landmark of the Revolutionary War. See the place where George Washington anchored a massive chain that stretched across the Hudson River to block British marine vessels. Plus, the island doubles as a great spot for a post-race walk.

3. Take a long active-recovery hike through the trails of Harriman State Park for invigorating fresh air and breathtaking, panoramic mountain views.

4. Drive south through the Hudson Valley for an hour and you’ll be in the heart of New York City. See a show on Broadway, take a stroll through Central Park or explore the unique culture of each of the city’s boroughs.

Spartan Sprint
3 mi/5 km 20 Obstacles 40 minutes Fastest Time
The Sprint may be our shortest distance race, but it’s still a favorite amongst both new and returning racers. It’s the perfect distance for those looking to start their Spartan journey. The Sprint also allows returning racers a manageable distance to see how far they can push themselves. Delivering 20 obstacles over 3 mi / 5 km, you’ll never run the same race twice. Once you complete the sprint you are 1/3 on your Spartan TRIFECTA: The ultimate Spartan achievement.
